British telecom service provider BT has selected testing vendor JDSU to deliver BT Sport channels — Barclay’s Premier League Football, Aviva Premiership Rugby and more — over its internet protocol television (IPTV) service.
As part of the deal, BT will upgrade its existing JDSU xDSL test system by adding the IPTV option that performs centralized delivery, maintenance and troubleshooting of multicast services for broadband customers.

The JDSU xDSL and Triple-Play test solutions provide on-demand, active channel test for the turn-up and management of BT services at the customer edge. BT will benefit from the measurement and monitoring of the accumulated effects of video carried over the network.
“Delivering superior customer service is a key pillar of BT’s strategy and there is no more critical area for this than ensuring we provide the best TV viewing experience,” said Neil J McRae, chief network architect, BT.
JDSU in a statement said that its solutions provision, maintain and troubleshoot triple-play services as well as copper loop and POTS lines, from a centralized location. BT can test toward the customer premises and also toward the xDSL network.
