JDSU on Thursday promoted interim Chief Financial Officer Rex Jackson to be the permanent CFO.

Jackson has been acting finance chief since September after Dave Vellequette left to become CFO at Avaya.

He joined JDSU two years ago as senior vice president, business services, with responsibility for several corporate functions, including information technology.

Before JDSU, he was CFO at Symyx Technologies, where he led the company's acquisition of MDL Information Systems and subsequent merger with Accelrys. He was also an acting CFO at Synopsys and an executive with Avago, AdForce and Read-Rite.

He reports to CEO Tom Waechter.

JDSU also named Susan Spradley as senior vice president in charge of development and management of the company's communications test and measurement product portfolio.
