JDSU wins optimisation deal with Belgacom

ProximusBelgacomNetwork optimisation specialist JDSU has won a deal with Belgian incumbent Belgacom that will see the operator deploy JDSU’s ariesoGEO location-enabled optimisation solution in its 2G, 3G and LTE networks. The product uses data from a range of user-focused network events cross-referenced with the event location to build a geographical picture of real-time network performance.

JDSU said an existing relationship with Belgacom’s mobile network team and the flexibility and ease of use of the platform were central to it winning the deal.

“We are delighted that Belgacom has recognized that the network-wide implementation of the ariesoGEO platform will ensure both multi-layer network optimization and scalable services such as VIP troubleshooting and planning,” said Shirin Dehghan, general manager of the Location Intelligence Business Unit in the Network and Service Enablement business segment at JDSU. “Only a few operators have begun to tackle the challenge of using unique subscriber data across every technology in the network to offer an optimum customer service. Belgacom is demonstrating real leadership in this field.”

In a statement Belgacom added: “ariesoGEO has a strong reputation as a robust and reliable platform that will allow us to consolidate our solutions under one system and offer an exceptional customer experience,” said Belgacom.

US-based JDSU acquired the UK’s Arieso in March 2013, for $85m. Earlier this year JDSU announced the acquisition of customer experience intelligence provider Trendium for an undisclosed sum.
