Observer Platform Software Maintenance Contracts and Service

VIAVI Solutions offers support agreement contracts for all Observer hardware and software products:

  • Software Maintenance Contracts – Available only for VIAVI Observer software only products (not installed on VIAVI provided hardware). The duration of a single contract is one (1) year. Multiple years of a software maintenance contract can be purchased.
  • Service Contracts – Available for all hardware VIVAI Observer hardware products. The duration of a single contract is one (1) year. Multiple years of a service contract can be purchased up until the End-of-Service-Life. For details see the End of Life Service Policy.
Software Maintenance Contract Benefits
  • Unlimited Priority Technical Support VIAVI Solutions provides dedicated technical support for all Observer software products from its two regional centers of excellence in Edinburgh, Scotland and Atlanta, GA.
  • Software Major Upgrades are available, at no additional charge, of any new release of the purchased program issued during the contract period.
  • Software Bug Fixes are available during the contract period.
  • Cross-platform Upgrade Discount at any time to a higher-level product (within the same family). Customer pays only the difference in cost between the two products.
  • Annual Reminder approximately one month prior to expiration, that it is time to purchase a new agreement.

Observer Software Licenses To use Observer software, you must have a license number. If you have already purchased Observer software and have not received your license number, you may request them by emailing the Observer Maintenance Department. Your license number will be sent to you within two business days.

Service Contract Benefits
  • Onsite Repair available on all GEN3 Observer hardware products for all non-field replaceable parts. Field replaceable parts include hard drives, cables, power supplies, SFP’s. All GEN2 Observer hardware products receive depot repair for all non-field replaceable parts.
  • Software Maintenance Benefits are also provided by a service contract for the duration of the service contract
  • Annual Reminder approximately one month prior to expiration, that it is time to purchase a new agreement.
Products Not Under Contract
  • Software All Observer software products come with 90 days of access to technical support and access to software updates from the date of purchase. Access to these benefits beyond 90 days requires an active Software Maintenance Contract.
  • Hardware All Observer hardware products come with a 90 manufacturer’s warranty, access to technical support and access to software updates from the date of purchase. The warranty provides depot service of the hardware product for any manufacturers defects. Access to these benefits beyond 90 days requires an active Service Contract.
