Bloor Market Review

Hybrid IT Infrastructure Management Vendor Landscape

Over the past several years there has been a gradual breakdown of the historical domain centric infrastructure performance management paradigm. What has emerged is a more holistic and vendor agnostic application aware framework—but likely more confusing landscape for IT teams monitoring services.

Meanwhile, multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud are becoming the de-facto norm for IT architectures. These are all presenting new monitoring, management and remediation challenges for enterprises including:

  • End-to-end visibility meaning something very different today than it did a few years ago
  • The volume of data being collected by a myriad of monitoring tools has grown exponentially
  • Businesses are reliant more than ever on IT for the delivery of their business objectives
  • The need rapid and accurate analysis of the data not only to resolve IT problems

This in turn has led to an increasingly complex vendor landscape with some now covering multiple domains and functional areas.

While there is certainly scope to reduce the overall number of tools being deployed in most enterprises, the imperative to ensure the availability and performance of IT systems that increasingly are the business, points to the need for a small number of best-of-breed monitoring and management tools and an AIOps event correlation and automation hub.
