BSDF Data

The modeling of optical diffusers is always a challenging task to optical designers. Most commercially available optical design programs can incorporate measured BSDF data to create a reliable diffuser model.

BSDF data records scatter information at various angles of incidence to generate a representation in the modeling program that can then be used to determine how rays propagate through the diffuser.

VIAVI is pleased to announce that BSDF data for many of its Engineered Diffuser™ products are available to optical designers for modeling diffuser behavior in their system models. Measured BSDF data for angles of incidence up to 20 degrees are currently available for circular and square scatter patterns. Line diffusers and HiLam™ diffusers have been designed, measured and modeled for use with collimated illumination at normal incidence. BSDF data are supplied in the following formats:

The BSDF data provided are from measurements of representative diffuser samples. Actual scatter distributions may vary from diffuser to diffuser.
