Color Trends - Resilience

Each year, VIAVI color professionals create a palette of “colors to watch” based on extensive trend research.

Resilience

RE=back SILIENCE=from the French salire, meaning to jump, to leap

Resilience as a word in English was first attributed to Francis Bacon in 1627. Resilience was used by Bacon in the scientific sense of a rebounding. The word contains both the movement of recoiling inward but also reverberating back outward. Resilience is not just a characteristic or a path, but it is incorporated into the biology of every living organism.

The story of our 2021 Color Trends contains three touchpoints: Nurture, Conviction, and Innovation. These touchpoints describe the process we all share when transitioning from crisis into a new life phase, a movement that showcases our innate power for hope—a transformation that evidences our Resilience.

We invite you to explore the three color stories offered in Resilience: Nurture, Conviction & Innovation.

And once the storm is over,  you  won’t remember how  you made it through, how  you managed to survive.  You  won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.

Haruki Murakami

It isn’t all over; everything has not been invented; The human adventure is just beginning.

Gene Roddenberry

Someday, this time might be considered as transformational as the late 1960s. If right now is indeed a revolution, that means, quite simply, we can’t just go back to the way things were.
