Establishing our impact in our Chandler, Arizona Headquarters

Since moving our Corporate Headquarters to Chandler, Arizona in 2021, we have been working to establish VIAVI as an employer of choice in the community. We held the Grand Opening of our Optical Security and Performance (OSP) factory in November 2022. Outreach programs such as job fairs, connecting with local technical colleges and sponsorship of community events have cemented our presence in Chandler, and enabled us to create approximately 100 new jobs.

VIAVI volunteers participated in Chandler's For Our City Day in 2022, joining over 1,000 local volunteers that helped 54+ Chandler households in the Pepperwood neighborhood with beautification projects such as painting and yard cleanup. In July 2023, the team worked with the local chapter of Feed the Children to prepare 150 backpacks with the educational materials children need for success in the classroom. VIAVI was nominated for the Working Together Award at the annual Volunteer Recognition ceremony held by the city of Chandler.

Our global VIAVI Technical Council event was hosted in Chandler, including our top engineering talent for a week of collaboration and knowledge sharing to discuss strategy and accelerate innovation. Our graduates in the Research & Development Early-Career Program attended the program and were given a tour of our new OSP facility in Chandler.

We are celebrating our second year of continued partnership in education with the University of Arizona Wyant College of Optical Sciences. The scholarship program VIAVI instituted is in honor of Dr. H. Angus Macleod, a pioneer of optical science who mentored a generation of students to become foundational contributors to the field. The three new scholarship honorees selected for the 2023–2024 academic year reinforces our commitment to creating the opportunity for more talent to enter the optical space as a career, and to increase our local connection to the community.

Our Approach to Working

We've articulated our philosophy about working which includes the belief in the value of the having our team members interacting in a workspace. These benefits include higher productivity, increased creativity, developing an esprit-de-corps and building trust within and between teams. We will continue to refine on our practices with respect to hybrid working, while recognizing the unique needs of our workforce as conditions evolve.

Bridging Diversity to include Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

We are widening our understanding of Diversity to embrace not only identity, but also the practices and behaviors that create the right environment for people to succeed. We will continue to communicate to our employees about diverse perspectives, while adding the insight to understand the value of equity in our practices, and inclusiveness to our behaviors. Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Pillars will embody our approach as we make progress in this space.

What We Value

Talent Development

Providing the experience, exposure, and education opportunities to drive business results

Our talent development programs promote the VIAVI Business Values through a passion for learning and performance. We are developing relevant and useful learning resources for our employees, managers, and leaders that invite a growth mindset and create an appetite for lifelong learning.

Our global Leadership Development Program has now reached over 70% of our leaders in FY23. Years 1 and 2 after the launch of the program were focused on foundational leadership concepts, creating a shared language and behaviors for managing teams. This year, we launched advanced concepts for Managers focused on coaching others, changing leadership, and accelerating talent. Leaders in this program realize the value of connecting globally and cross functionally in the virtual live sessions, giving their experience a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 70+.

Our focus on broad based Manager Development reinforces the need to provide timely coaching and feedback while creating high-performing teams. Role-based learning paths are tailored to new and experienced levels of management to ensure learner relevance and enable sustained behavior change. We continue to drive talent conversations at all levels, which is complemented by Everyday Development, our performance management check-in process. Check-ins ensure that teams are being coached and supported throughout the year with relevant and timely discussions on Expectations, Feedback and Development. Both managers and employees have a role to play to ensure that they are connected on the activities that drive our business forward. Our employees can expect to engage regularly with their manager, and to have their support to accelerate their performance and development. Remote learning and working continued to be relevant as people continued to adapt through global change. We updated employees weekly with curated learning resources covering relevant themes like anti-racism, building personal resilience, working effectively in a remote environment to help our employees to be more agile, stay productive and focused while continuing their development on any device.

Our talent development offerings are made up of relevant and useful learning resources for our employees, managers, and leaders that invite a growth mindset and create an appetite for lifelong learning.

VIAVI employees exhibit commitment to their ongoing career development. Individual contributors represent 70% of our internal consumers of skill-based learning for developing the professional and technical skills they need to advance their careers.

Our employees regularly participate in mandatory training courses covering data privacy, cybersecurity, health and safety as well as the prevention of harassment, including sexual harassment in the workplace. These mandatory trainings are completed in compliance with our quality performance standard of 98%.

The following programs offer recent engineering and sales college graduates with a diverse mixture of experiences to grow personally and professionally. They provide emerging talent and our established workforce with opportunities to embrace other cultures and gain more of a global view and appreciation for diverse viewpoints. This unique exposure opportunity provides experiences that will support their future success and create a collaborative, global community of future talent ambassadors. Explore Early-Career Programs
