VIAVI Solutions has officially opened a new office in Bucharest, Romania, establishing an R&D center of excellence close to key customers in the emerging technology sectors of Europe. The company is actively seeking to hire around 120 qualified candidates in the fields of information and communications technology, network testing, monitoring and assurance.
On April 17, VIAVI hosted government dignitaries, university representatives, industry influencers and technology experts for a grand opening at the new office, which is located in Bucharest’s Oregon Park business center.
“An educated twenty-first century workforce, coupled with affordable commercial infrastructure, has created a fast-growing technology sector in Romania,” said Horia Mintas, Director of the Foreign Investment Department, Ministry For Business Environment, Commerce and Entrepreneurship.
“We are pleased that VIAVI Solutions has chosen to open an office in Bucharest, bringing desirable jobs and a strong reputation in communications and enterprise technology to the commercial capital of Romania.”
“Bucharest was a logical choice for the establishment of a new VIAVI R&D center of excellence to maintain close ties with our valued customers, and we plan to further grow our presence here in the future,” said Oleg Khaykin, President and Chief Executive Officer, VIAVI Solutions. "VIAVI is on the forefront of network testing and assurance, helping communications service providers transition from legacy systems to tomorrow’s infrastructure, and we anticipate that the resources available in this expanding technology hub will enhance our leadership and our customers’ success."
In 2017, the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region experienced a cloud IT infrastructure growth rate of 34 percent, the second fastest in the world, according to analyst firm IDC. While telecommunications operators in Eastern Europe have realized some revenue growth recently, primarily due to demand for smartphones, they are in need of strategies and solutions to reduce capital and operating expenditures — as is the case with network service providers worldwide. VIAVI offers optimization tools and technologies to help service providers and enterprise IT teams decrease complexity and increase efficiency while improving quality of service.
