Rob Lerner joined VIAVI (then JDS Uniphase) in 2013 as Sales Director in Northern Europe. Now just two years later, he lives in Singapore and is the Vice President of Sales for the Location Intelligence product line for APAC, Japan, China and Korea. Rob’s rapid rise is due to his ability to seize an opportunity, put in the hard work and build a winning team – resulting in increased market traction and business growth in his region. Rob also credits VIAVI’s willingness to provide him with the structure and support he needed to succeed and then recognize his accomplishments through promotions and increased responsibility.
VIAVI is a company that is challenging the status quo in many areas and that often means advising the customer to take a path they may not have initially chosen. In the end, our job is to ensure their success by delivering innovative solutions.

Steve Struebing works in R&D as a Senior Engineering Development Manager. His career progression with the company has permitted him to work with teams internationally, and even included an assignment in France. In his current role based out of Germantown, Maryland, Steve collaborates with peers in product engineering and most of the company’s corporate function teams.
The focus on agility is coming from the top, but executed from the bottom up with close engagement with customers. So we’re able to respond quickly to the marketplace and to customer requirements.

Lynn Macpherson is another VIAVI employee who has seized the opportunity to control her career and take advantage of the company’s global footprint. As the Global Consulting Team Lead, Lynn manages HR consulting teams across North America, EMEA and APAC. She started with VIAVI in the UK, serving in a HR role focused on Northern Europe. When she heard about a short-term project in Maryland, she raised her hand and few weeks later she was off to the U.S., where she provided support for a new acquisition. Upon returning to the U.K., she let her leadership know she was open to permanent opportunities in the U.S. A year later, she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she still works today!

While VIAVI is a great place to continue a career, Melissa Sinclair has also found it to be a great place to start a career. Melissa joined VIAVI in June 2014 fresh out of college. As an inside sales representative for the company’s channel partner business in North America, she is often the first person to speak with a prospective partner. She handles initial inquires from partners and helps to direct them to the appropriate channel sales or manufacturing sales team.
She credits VIAVI’s sales training process – which included learning about all about the company’s technologies and solutions – with shortening her learning curve and preparing her to be successful in her first job.
