The M.2 form factor has become the dominant interface for SSDs across laptops, desktops, workstations, and servers. Its compact footprint and support for high-speed NVMe over PCIe make it a critical connection point for storage development and validation. The VIAVI Solutions Xgig® 4-lane, M.2 Interposer (Xgig6P-PCIe6-X4-MD2M) enables protocol analysis of communication between an M.2 PCIe SSD and the host system, capturing bidirectional PCIe 6.0 data on each of 4 lanes at up to 64GT/s.

Working together with the VIAVI Xgig 6P16 analysis platform, the Interposer enables debug and verification of new M.2 PCIe SSD cards, firmware development, system BIOS validation, and manufacturing test. High-speed linear signal redrivers buffer the system data signals, ensuring accurate protocol capture and full decode of data traffic and link states.
