VIAVI Announces Third Annual Wireshark Week to Help Network Engineers Hone Troubleshooting Skills

Milpitas, Calif., November 29, 2016 – VIAVI Solutions (NASDAQ: VIAV) today announced that the third annual Wireshark Week will take place December 5-9, 2016. This popular series of free webinars with independent industry experts and analysts is designed to help enterprise network engineers who are seeking advanced knowledge on utilizing packet analysis to diagnose network performance issues and build robust security for business IT.

Wireshark Week

As networks grow in complexity — physical, virtual, cloud, hybrid — many users are returning to the one simple truth: packets never lie. With hundreds of thousands of downloads per month, the open-source packet analyzer Wireshark is one of the most commonly used network troubleshooting tools. For many network engineers, Wireshark is also their first experience with packet-level analysis. Without sufficient upfront knowledge and preparation, users can easily be overwhelmed by the sheer volume of data, and lose substantial time navigating through large trace files, looking for a needle in a haystack.

Wireshark Week from VIAVI, a Gartner Magic Quadrant leader for Network Performance Monitoring and Diagnostics, will offer valuable insight and advanced knowledge on utilizing packet analysis to diagnose network performance swiftly and effectively. The series will also introduce how Wireshark may be augmented with complementary products, such as the Observer Platform, to provide additional visibility. Places are limited and registration is on a first come, first served basis.

The 2016 sessions will include:

  • Essential TCP Tips & Tricks
  • Security Secrets for Network Teams
  • Monitoring Cloud Performance using Packets
  • Analyzing Advanced Applications
  • Simpler Workflows for Rapid Troubleshooting

“There are several million Wireshark users who form the largest community of network troubleshooters on the planet,” said Douglas Roberts, Vice President and General Manager, Enterprise & Cloud Business Unit, VIAVI Solutions. “VIAVI is committed to helping enterprises worldwide with network and application performance management. We are pleased to offer insights from independent industry professionals as well as our own experience so network engineers can learn from the very best.”
