What is a Non-Reflective Terminator?

Knowledge Base - Solution

What is a non-reflective terminator and when it is required during fiber optic testing?
A non-reflective terminator attaches to the end of a fiber and stops light from being reflected back into the fiber towards the testset. It is used when performing a reference measurement for ORL testing or during a single ended ORL measurement . It can also be used for OTDR applications, such as FTTA, to avoid having a large reflectance at the end of the fiber which can be common with an open fiber connection.
