OTDR Bad Connector Error

Problem: 
When I press START on my Viavi OTDR to shoot a trace, I immediately get a message saying the connector is bad.
Solution: 
Inspect and clean the connector on the OTDR module as well as the connector on the fiber connected to the testset. This message means the OTDR is seeing a very poor launch condition into the fiber. Try another launch cable if cleaning does not resolve. If a very short launch cable is being used, less than 10 meters, then replace the launch cable with a longer fiber and retest. Verify that the fiber type (APC or PC) matches the port on the OTDR module.
