Maintain Operational Capability for Personnel in GPS/GNSS Denied, Degraded, and Disrupted Space Operational Environment (D3SOE)
Adversaries are increasingly using electronic warfare to jam and spoof the Global Positioning System. This presents a serious challenge for warfighters who need reliable navigation and timing in denied, degraded, or disrupted space operational environments (D3SOE).
The RSR Transcoder™ 2.0 from VIAVI Solutions is a rugged, real-time solution that converts modern Assured PNT inputs such as M-Code, SAASM, INS, and other signals of opportunity into legacy-compatible GPS RF signals. Based on a patented methodology, the system includes a full-constellation GPS simulator that outputs standard GPS L1 C/A, L1 P-code, and L2 P-code signals.
Key features:
- Generates GPS L1 C/A, L1 & L2 P-code RF signals compatible with legacy receivers
- Update rates up to 100 Hz
- External 1PPS input enables time-transfer accuracy better than 5 nanoseconds
- Automatic detection and configuration of BAE Systems (DAGR, MicroGRAM) and u-blox receivers
- Designed for vehicle, airborne, and portable deployments
- Supports covert or lights-out operation for tactical scenarios
Seamless Legacy Integration
The Transcoder generates a GPS RF signal at configurable power levels that appears to the legacy receiver as a live-sky signal. This allows legacy systems to be upgraded simply by replacing the GPS antenna with the Transcoder, without modifying internal hardware or software.
It accepts NMEA Position, Velocity, and Time (PVT) inputs and processes them within milliseconds. This enables real-time conversion of modern PNT sources such as M-code, SAASM, SBAS, Galileo, GLONASS, and BeiDou into signals compatible with GB-GRAM, MicroGRAM, DAGR, and similar receivers.

Software Options
Transcoder 2.0 100 Hz Refresh Software Option
This software upgrade enables the Transcoder 2.0 to accept and process high-rate Position, Velocity, and Time (PVT) input data at up to 100 Hz, and to generate matching GPS RF outputs with the same 100 Hz refresh rate. This software option is designed for dynamic or time-sensitive applications, to ensure that fast-changing motion profiles from external PNT sources such as M-Code receivers, SAASM GPS, or INS/IMU systems are accurately reflected in the legacy GPS RF output. Ideal for airborne, missile, and high-speed vehicle platforms where standard 1 Hz or 10 Hz updates are insufficient.
Key Benefits
- Supports PNT input update rates up to 100 Hz (NMEA or SCPI)
- Increases internal simulation and RF output rate to 100 Hz
- Enables low latency tracking of rapid platform dynamics
- Ensures accurate legacy GPS emulation in high-mobility environments
ICD-GPS-153 Interface Software Option
Enables communication and control of ICD-GPS-153-compatible receivers such as the DAGR and other military-grade GPS devices. This option allows the Transcoder 2.0 to configure and retrieve real-time data from these receivers for enhanced Assured PNT support.
Key Capabilities
- Configure baud rate, output message set, and 1PPS behavior
- Use Time Mark (8504) message as the PNT source for transcoding
- Retrieve satellite data including live almanac, ephemeris, and UTC corrections
- Support for periodic satellite data refresh
The RSR Transcoder 2.0 can be purchased in a variety of hardware configurations, each supporting optional software enhancements and optional accessories.
