Avalanche: Cyberflood: How is FEC configured on 100G ports?
Forward Error Correction, or FEC, is an error control technique in data transmission. • Firmware version 5.04+ • There is an option to change the status of FEC via the CLI. fec  If you do not see an "fec" option in the help, change the profile • Earlier firmware version 4.75 to 5.03 • There is no way for customers to toggle the FEC status other than starting a test and checking the behavior. • There is no way for customer to check the FEC status other than starting a test and checking the behavior.   • FEC on 100G ports is on by default   • There is no way to check the actual FEC status The "fec" command checks whether to perform a link negotiation, and does not show the actual FEC state. Turning fec on If the link stays down, start any short test to allow Avalanche to negotiate the required FEC configuration with the DUT You can either choose "fec auto" or "fec on".  Then a reboot is required. fec auto reboot Turning fec off If you do not want the link to negotiate, set fec off This is useful when the media changes from fiber unexpectedly.  Set the fec correctly, then turn fec off so negotiation will be disabled.  You may also have to turn off fec on the DUT side. fec off reboot   If after starting a test the link is still down, run the linkstat command and/or contact VIAVI Support at support@VIAVI.com See KNI17113 Avalanche: CyberFlood: Tests intermittently fail with linkstat showing local fault
