CyberFlood: Avalanche: What are the known limitations of Transport Layer Security (TLS) v1.3?
TLS v1.3 is a significant change from TLS v1.2, and brings new challenges for secure test methodologies. The following are the known limitations with TLS v1.3: • Requires Avalanche version 4.81 or higher firmware on your test device • Supported only on the C100-S3-MP and MX2 hardware platforms • Not accelerated by the VIAVI Cryptographic Acceleration Module • Cannot be combined with other SSL or TLS versions (must select TLS v1.3 exclusively) • Reduced performance as compared to an unencrypted HTTP test by 10 to 25 percent NOTES: • VIAVI is in the process of optimizing performance. Currently, TLS v1.3 is ideal for functional testing, as opposed to performance testing. • TLS v1.3 support is based on the following IETF draft document: The Transport Layer Security (TLS) Protocol Version 1.3, draft 22
