VIAVI TestCenter: FX3-100GQ-T2 FEC Off AN On, CR4 DAC Cable 4.82, Link Up in VIAVI side but down on DUT side.

Knowledge Base - FAQ

• Attempt AN/LT no FEC between Spirent and DUT • In the state Spirent green DUT red • restart the spirent link without AN/LT and without changing the DUT state • DUT reports link up Engineering observed some incorrect behavior, comments below: If we Auto-Negotiate with a FEC mismatch then the side with FEC disabled will transmit Idle.  It should be transmitting remote fault.  Both sides are transmitting with the correct FEC encoding (meaning disabled on one port and enabled on the other).    I went back and tested an older version and did not observe this incorrect behavior.  In that case both devices were properly transmitting remote fault.  If this is related to the link problems with the DUT because our transmitter was always sending with the correct encoding.  Also we would be sending Idle to the DUT instead of remote fault anyways because we think we have a link (we are receiving Idle from the DUT.  We can load the older FPGA version onto the test module to see if your test results change.  There will be a mismatch between the FPGA and software so frame-related tests might not function properly.
