VIAVI TestCenter: How accurate is the Fault Duration specified in the Link Fault Signaling section of the TestCenter GUI?

• The force Link Fault feature is set/unset via software and is not designed to be accurate.   • The duration the user can input only sets a rough “sleep” parameter.  The shorter values will be less accurate, but we have not measured accuracy with a scope or anything like that. • We do not have internal counters for total faults or fault durations.  • The current available logging is probably interrupt+poll driven, so it may not correctly represent the transition event duration. • At this moment there is no guaranteed way to measure the Link Fault signal directly to get the measurement data of the fault duration.
