VIAVI TestCenter: How do you perform a fully discharge power cycle on a PX3-QSFP-DD-8 appliance?
Sometimes a normal power cyling of the PX3-QSFP-DD-8 appliance might result in some "state" in the electronic components being retained. If an appliance is having trouble with ports coming online/available or some other inexplainable instability, a more "complete" power cycle may be needed. Additionally, removing the "appliance context" files prior to performing this sort of power cycle might be considered as well.
This power cycle involves completely discharging all the energy stored within the appliance's electrical components. Do this by performing the following steps:
• power down the appliance
• remove the AC power cord
• press and hold down the power button
• this "turns on" the appliance without the AC and as a result discharges anything in the circuits, capacitors, etc.
• you may notice that the LEDs on the appliance might turn on or flash as the discharge occurs
• plug the AC power cord back in
• power up the appliance
