VIAVI TestCenter: IEEE802.1AS gPTP profiles and other support feature questions.
• Difference amongst the 3 gPTP profiles
• Default -
• This profile is as per IEEE802.1AS 2011 spec.
• The details of the same are provided in the Play book in section 3, Timing and Synchronization.
• The configurations have been described in play book. (Playbook is at https://www.VIAVI.com/Assets/PB/PB_Time-Sensitive-Networking )
• Ieee802.1as_rev
• This is the gPTP-rev which is still not a standard.
• It is the revised version of IEEE802.1AS 2011.
• STC supports one step clock and multiple timing domains in this profile. This profile is yet to be included in playbook.
• Ieee802.1s_automotive
• This corresponds to the Automotive profile by AVnu defined on top of IEEE802.1AS 2011 spec.
• The automotive profile is also described in Play book in section 3, Timing and Synchronization, with configurations.
• Support of “Alternate Master”
• from searching the specs I only see this in IEEE1588v2 PTP, it is not in IEEE802.1AS specs.
• Support of “Path Trace TLV”
• Path Trace TLV goes out in VIAVI emulated Announce messages, but it is not user configurable.
