VIAVI TestCenter: IEEE802.1AS gPTP profiles and other support feature questions.
• Difference amongst the 3 gPTP profiles • Default - • This profile is as per IEEE802.1AS 2011 spec. • The details of the same are provided in the Play book in section 3, Timing and Synchronization. • The configurations have been described in play book. (Playbook is at https://www.VIAVI.com/Assets/PB/PB_Time-Sensitive-Networking ) • Ieee802.1as_rev • This is the gPTP-rev which is still not a standard. • It is the revised version of IEEE802.1AS 2011. • STC supports one step clock and multiple timing domains in this profile. This profile is yet to be included in playbook.  • Ieee802.1s_automotive  • This corresponds to the Automotive profile by AVnu defined on top of IEEE802.1AS 2011 spec. • The automotive profile is also described in Play book in section 3, Timing and Synchronization, with configurations.  • Support of “Alternate Master” • from searching the specs I only see this in IEEE1588v2 PTP, it is not in IEEE802.1AS specs. • Support of “Path Trace TLV”  • Path Trace TLV goes out in VIAVI emulated Announce messages, but it is not user configurable.
