VIAVI TestCenter :Why PPPoE Clients send PADR where the service name does not match with server service name.
Issue Description: • STC is configured as PPPoE client with the Service-Name. • There are 2 server on another sideis configured with different service name. • STC PPPoE client sending PADI and getting offer from both the server where Service-Name does not match with the their service name. • Client sending the PADR to the server who is sending the PADO with service name that does not match with the client's service name. Answer: Working as expected. Explanation: The PPPoE Active Discovery Request (PADR) packet: Since the PADI was broadcast, the Host may receive more than one PADO. The Host looks through the PADO packets it receives and chooses one. The choice can be based on the AC-Name or the Services offered. The Host then sends one PADR packet to the Access Concentrator that it has chosen. Reference: Request for Comments: 2516 A Method for Transmitting PPP Over Ethernet (PPPoE)
