the calibration of a MTS mainframe is recommended to verify the function, checking e.g. buffer battery, cleaning internal connectors and upgrade to the latest software. The important part is the calibration of the internal mainframe clock. This is essential for the use of OTDR modules which uses the timing signal from the mainframe. To optimize the calibration result it is recommended to send the OTDR module together with the mainframe for calibration.
