DSAM Sync error

Question: 
Why would a meter sync at the shop but not in the field, if both ways tried Ethernet?  
Answer: 
If you have a firewall on the external network then the ports for syncing is blocked.You would have to set up the meter in TPP for ftp to secure sync with certificates,This would allow the DSAM to Communicate through the firewall on port 443.Note: a DSAM connected to the ETHERNET pot of a cable modem is still outside the firewall.
