Question:
When is a Gated Sweep used when performing RF Spectral Analysis?
Answer:
A Gated Sweep is used when looking for interference on Time Division Duplex (TDD) RF signals. As the uplink and downlink signals are on the same frequencies, time has to be used to separate the downlink from the uplink. Uplink signals (from the mobile device to the antenna) operate at a lower power than the radio and are therefore more effected by interference. By using a gated sweep, a time trigger is set to perform the measurement only during the time of the uplink signal.
