Question:
What is the difference between Interframe Frame Gap (IFG) and Service Disruption measurements in Ethernet Testing on the MTS/TBERD 5800/CSAM/MSAM platforms?
Answer:
Interframe Frame Gap (IFG) was the Ethernet Service Disruption (SD) result prior to rev 25.5. The IFG result always reflects the largest gap seen between Ethernet frames. Prior to rev 25.5 this was the way to measure a disruption. Rev 25.5 adds a Service Disruption setup and result similar to the SD results in SONET/SDH testing. The user can specify SD event triggers was well as threshold and separation time to qualify events. Summary, Detailed and Statistic DS results are provided.
